- Has the highest rate of denials.
-
Apply for the disability tax credit using professional assistance (Recommended)
A professional prepares the application from the applicant's answers, in the terms the CRA assesses, for the applicant and their medical professional to review and sign.
Pros
- One flat fee of $49, returned in full if the applicant does not qualify.
- The applicant keeps 100% of any refund received from the CRA (up to $40,000) and all of their benefits.
- Done entirely online, from the comfort of home, on any phone or computer.
- The completed 16-page application is crafted to match the keywords and terms the CRA uses for approval.
-
Apply for the disability tax credit through a DTC company
A company prepares and submits the application on the applicant's behalf, and charges a percentage of the benefits received.
Pros
- The company handles the application and follow-up with the CRA.
Cons
- Typically 25% or more of the refund and benefits, plus tax. On a $5,000 refund, that is $1,250 or more, plus tax.
- The applicant usually authorizes the company to deal with the CRA on their behalf.
